NORTH LIGHT YACHT CLUB UNVEILS ONE-OF-A-KIND HURRICANE BOAT PROTECTION PROGRAM - Posted: 06/19/09 |
Program allows boat owners to store their boats temporarily when hurricane conditions arise
NICEVILLE, Fla. (June 19, 2009)—As the Gulf Coast braces itself for another hurricane season, North Light Yacht Club announces a unique hurricane protection plan for boat owners. Available when hurricane conditions are forecast in the area, North Light Yacht Club dry storage provides temporary shelter for 20-40’ boats in its 42,970 square foot facility.
Should the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Weather Forecast Service declare there to be a 50 percent chance of a storm hitting anywhere 50 miles east or 75 miles west of Destin, North Light will promptly haul out and store boats until two days after the storm passes. Built to the toughest standards and able to withstand winds of up to 145 mph, North Light’s 951,000 pound galvanized steel frame barn is located in a protected bayou on the north side of Choctawhatchee Bay.
From July 1st through November 30th, participants are entitled to up to three haul-outs and re-launches in the event of a pending tropical storm or hurricane, and two lay days post storm. North Light encourages members to bring their boats to the marina at least 48 hours prior to predicted landfall of a storm.
Cost to have peace of mind while your boat is safe and secure with North Light’s hurricane protection plan is $750 for the 2009 Hurricane season. Membership capacity is limited. Call (850) 678-2350 or (850) 428-1887 for more information or visit www.northlightyachtclub.com for complete program details.
